"The purpose of this church is to glorify God through the salvation of the lost and the edification of believers.”

It is the vision and goal of Northfield Baptist Church to carry out the command of Christ's Great Commission. Therefore, we view missions as an integral ministry of our church and of our individual members.

Northfield Baptist Church has the opportunity to support many who share the Gospel of Jesus Christ both in our country and throughout the world by meeting financial needs, offering encouragement and through prayer. Following is information on people as well as ministries that NBC supports.

Ways to Support NBC Missionaries and Ministries

Below, all of the missionaries and ministries are listed that Northfield Baptist Church supports. Here are some ideas of how you as a church member can support them.

Be aware of their needs, prayer requests and praises provided through the prayer letters.
Pray for our missionaries and ministries regularly.
Send them special offerings through funds collected in the ABF groups. Requests can be sent to the Treasurer through the church office.
Send them notes or cards of encouragement.
Spend time with missionary families when they are in our area on furlough.

Nate and Maam Beckman in Thailand

Praise the Lord for the joy they are experiencing in seeing their church members grow, change, and understand enough to begin witnessing to their family and friends. They are sharing Christ more than ever before!
Praise the Lord for May, who came to know Jesus as her Savior after Fon shared Christ with her! Pray for her continued growth.
Praise the Lord for the growth in Muu’s faith after Maam had the opportunity to lead her to the Lord. Muu began witnessing to her adult son, Jack and his girlfriend. On Jack’s second visit to church, Nate was able to lead him to the Lord!
Pray for the salvation of two sisters, Prae and Fai. Both sisters now attend Pinklao when they are not working. Fai is interested in knowing Jesus, and Prae would like to learn more first. Pray for both women to open their hearts to Jesus.

Dave and Jeannie Ferguson, Baptist Mid-Missions

Pray for Dave as he leads the pursuit of BMM’s Strategic Planning objective, Rock #3, “Expand – pioneer 5 new fields or ministries by 2030. Pray that the Lord will direct, guide and use the committee in these goals.

Steve and Beth Gault, Baptist Mid-Missions

Next Wednesday, Steve and Beth will make their way to BMM’s Pause Conference, a triennial, weeklong enrichment event held for BMM Europe and Africa missionaries. This Conference provides for a time of refreshment, rest, and renewal for the missionaries.
Pray for safety in travel to the Pause Conference and pray for Beth, as she has not been feeling well. Pray for Steve and Beth as they minister to the needs of the missionaries that they will have insight, clearly seeing ways to encourage and strengthen the missionaries attending the Conference.
Pray for Steve and Beth as they continue to navigate caring for Steve’s parents and Beth’s mom, Janet Bauer. Pray for them to have wisdom in making decisions as they care for their needs.

John and Penny Jackson, Jackson Ministries

Praise the Lord, Clayton, who came to know the Lord early last year, has been growing spiritually and is now sharing Christ with his teammates at Simpson College.
In March, John and Penny will host the SC wrestling team with a season-end meal and gospel presentation. Pray for hearts to be softened to God’s gift of salvation.
Pray for their unsaved neighbors, Brian and Connie, who are becoming softer to the Gospel.
Pray as John and his staff continue to write and produce leadership training material.

Joe and Esther Keim, Mission to Amish People (MAP)

Praise the Lord for 302 students who gave their lives to Jesus through the SonLight Club, representing a life changed, a family and community touched, and eternity entered.
Pray for wisdom and guidance for Joe & Esther as they raise funds to buy land and build a larger facility for the MAPs.
Joe and Esther would like to mentor a young man for leadership in MAPs. Pray for the right person to step into this role.
Pray for growth in the SonLight Club, the Plowman’s Academy, the online Growing in Christ Academy, and for more Amish households to be added to the Amish Voice mailing list.

Ken and Amy Lowe in Portugal

As they continue ongoing counseling with several people each week, pray for Ken and Amy to have godly wisdom and direction, whether they are doing formal counselling or giving godly advice.
Pray for Ken as he continues to complete his work as a Fellow with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, which should be finished by the summer.
Ken is serving as interim pastor of their local church in Samora Correia. Pray for him in sermon preparations and as he helps two other men prepare their sermons when they preach. Pray also for Amy as she is working with the children’s and women’s ministries.
Our NBC team is making preparations here for the trip they will take in June to work with Ken and Amy in an English teaching ministry. Pray for Ken and Amy as they continue to make preparations in Portugal for the team’s arrival.

Bill and Becky Petite in Japan

Praise the Lord for the professions of faith made by several. Pray for them to follow their profession with baptism.
Pray for so many who have heard the gospel and have not believed. Pray for hearts to be softened to understand their need for a Savior.
Pray for many who have followed the Lord but have now fallen away. Pray for their hearts to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives as He draws them back to Him.
Pray for many who are experiencing difficult health issues, specifically Pastor Tago with an incurable disease, Pasto Masago with an enlarged heart and Sue Mayo, who is awaiting a major surgery.
Pray for safety and good health as Bill and Becky continue to travel and minister to churches and individuals throughout Japan.

Dave, Ruth Ann and Andrea Rogers, ABWE Chile

Pray for their monthly support deficit. They are under supported by $802 per month.
Pray for health issues they are both facing. Dave is having tests done to ascertain the status of some elevated numbers.
Pray for Andrea to find a part-time job in Lancaster, PA. She needs to cover the 25% cost of her living arrangements with her roommates.
Pray for encouragement and sharpening as pastors and full-time ministry workers who are meeting monthly to pray. Many are facing personal issues, health concerns and family burdens. Pray they would all make this prayer time a priority.
Pray for wisdom and Spirit-led guidance as they assume the interim pastoral role of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Josh, Rachel, Nate, Anna Stewart in Taiwan

Praise the Lord for the opportunity Josh had to share the gospel at a recent funeral. Pray for the Gospel to reach the hearts of those who heard.
Winter camps will take place in January and February. Pray for God’s work in hearts, speakers attentive to what God has for them to share, growth in believers, and for unsaved to trust Christ. Pray for good health, good weather, and safe travel.
Praise the Lord God has answered Anna’s prayer for a couple of girlfriends!
Praise the Lord several kids and teens want to play basketball with us once again, allowing the opportunity to build relationships with them. Pray for them to come to Christ as the result of this outreach.

Michael and Sherri Vanek, Faith Baptist Community Church and Center

Pray as Michael begins a discipleship group to encourage spiritual growth in the lives of four individuals. Pray each will become more serious and intentional followers of Jesus. Pray they will boldly share the gospel.
Praise the Lord for God’s provision as He faithfully meets monthly needs.

Chris & Darcy Vergiels, Brazil with BMM

Praise the Lord for the opportunity Darcy had to lead Isabela to the Lord!
As the Gospel was presented at the Children’s Christmas Event, two families had opportunity to hear the Gospel for the first time!
Continue to pray as the auditorium project continues. Pray for the Lord’s wisdom through each step of the process.

Rob and Penny Whitty in Ghana Africa

Praising the Lord for:

Strength and health as they age and deal with aging issues, though they are very healthy and extremely grateful
The faithfulness of their entire support team – churches, individuals, and families
The oversight of Baptist Mid-Missions to keep them focused on serving God and using their resources well
New contacts to share Christ with
Opportunities to see the young people who grew up in the village churches come to adulthood and remain faithful

Prayer Requests:

College-age young adults in their churches who need to be organized and ministered to by the local church
Wisdom for trying to buy the additional piece of property to serve as a phys ed place and sports field for EBCS. The negotiations have stalled while they wait for the owners to decide what they will do
People to respond to the Gospel
Wisdom to see another church planted in the area around them. The prayer would be for a Ghanaian to be impacted to help plant the church
Future administrators for the school that God would point out the individuals and move those individual to come and join the school
Future expansion of the school
Wisdom for caring for Rob’s parents in the very near future
Effectiveness in the special opportunities to minister with the holiday ministry schedule

Cameron and Kerry Woolford, Servant Leaders International

Praise the Lord for the opportunity Cam had to participate in training in the town of Jinotega. Though the people live with scarcity, limitations and overwhelming obstacles in Nicaragua, he found their passion to be a reminder that the gospel is never limited by struggle or economies; it flourishes wherever God’s people are willing to give themselves fully to His mission.
Pray for their current interns and residents in Nicaragua as they prepare to step into life and ministry roles, asking God to strengthen their character, clarify their calling, and provide the support they need as they go.
Pray for God’s financial provision for David and Paula Soto as they raise support.
Pray for wisdom as they plan a new church plant, asking God to guide them to the right location, the right timing, and the right team so that the gospel takes deep root in the community He is preparing.
Pray for fruit from the missions training in November that those who expressed interest will further their education and explore their call.

Current & Active Missionaries

Nate & Maam Beckman

Serving in Thailand, Serving Missionaries in Asia & The Pacific, Baptist Mid-Missions.
Nate grew up in the Central African Republic as the son of BMM missionaries Larry and Paula Beckman. Nate later served short-term in Thailand, where he met his wife, Maam. They joined BMM in 2001 and serve as church planters in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dave & Jeannie Ferguson

First Vice President and Administrator for Missionary Services, Baptist Mid-Missions.
Dave and his wife, Jeannie, served as BMM missionaries with Campus Bible Fellowship from 1987 until 2002, before Dave joined our home office team as Assistant to the President/Director of Special Projects. He took his current position in 2017.
As Administrator for Missionary Services, Dave is responsible for administrative oversight and coordination of the Missionary Services working group, which is comprised of the following services: Missionary Finance, Field Administration, Special Projects, and Crisis Management.
Steve & Beth Gault

Field Administrator for Africa and Europe, Baptist Mid-Missions.
Steve grew up in Central African Republic as a BMM MK. In 1991, he and his wife, Beth, joined BMM and served as church planters in his homeland. Civil wars caused the Gaults to relocate to Côte d’Ivoire and then to Cameroon. In his last 11 years in Africa, Steve also served as BMM’s Africa coordinator before joining the home office team in 2015.
Steve serves in a pastoral and consulting role for the missionaries serving in his fields. Steve and Beth come alongside missionaries to help them thrive in life and ministry.
John & Penny Jackson

A lifetime of vibrant disciple-making ministry! John and Penny Jackson have been Creating Confident Disciple-Makers for decades!
They've discipled people in jails, hospitals, in remote African villages, around the campfire, on fishing trips, in their neighborhoods, around the dinner table (where there is always room for one more chair), or at the gym or grocery store.
In the USA and around the world, they've served as church-planting missionaries and as mentors and counselors to other missionaries, as short-term missions hosts, trip leaders and trainers; as camp counselors, as teachers, as disciple-making parents, and, now, as disciple-making grandparents.

Joe & Esther Keim

Mission to Amish People.
Joe and Esther Keim were both born and raised in the Old Order Amish Community. They had been taught that only by keeping the Amish ordinance would they be able to get to heaven. Through the testimony and prayers of his friend, Paul, Joe realized that it was only through accepting Jesus as his Savior that he would get to heaven. Both he and Esther came to know the Lord, were married and soon became outcasts of the Amish for their new beliefs. Though they became involved in church and began to serve, they were burdened for the Amish and the desire for each to hear the clear message of salvation. The result of this call is Mission to Amish People. The three-fold purpose is to 1) Evangelize and disciple Amish and former Amish people; 2) Assist older teenagers and young adults who have already left the Amish culture by providing basic life skills; and 3) Expand MAP all over North America.
Ken & Amy Lowe

Serving with Faith Global Missions in Portugal.
Ken and Amy have extensive experience working in Portugal. The Lowes worked in Portugal for over 15 years before returning to the States for the last 10 years. They are now desiring to return to Portugal to focus upon Biblical Counseling training and leadership development with local Portuguese churches. This is a key time of resourcing leaders in Portugal as churches strive to grow and reproduce. Ken has been ACBC certified since 2007 and his D.Min focused on leadership development through the local church.
Bill & Becky Petite

Serving in Japan, Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.
Bill and Becky Petite are serving in Southern Japan and are involved with church planting, English teaching, the Living Hope Gospel Choir and Bill is Field Council Treasurer. They also teach English and Bible Classes, interpret for the deaf.
Dave & Ruth Ann Rogers

Serving in Chile, Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.
Dave and Ruth Ann Rogers serve in Chile. Dave focuses on partnering with Chilean believers to plant churches (presently New Life Baptist) and equip leaders through the Seminary, overseeing the publications ministry, and field team leadership. Ruth Ann emphasizes the discipleship of women and teaching.
Josh & Rachel Stewart

Serving in Taiwan, Baptist Mid-Missions.
The Stewarts joined BMM in 2010 to serve in Asia. Their current ministry is in Taiwan.
Michael & Sherri Vanek

Faith Baptist Church and Community Center, Baptist Mid-Missions.
Michael and Sherri Vanek serve at the Faith Baptist Church and Community Center in inner-city Cleveland, Ohio. The church and center exist to preach the gospel, teach the Scriptures, and helping people grow into productive servants of Jesus Christ as He builds His church in inner-city Cleveland. To accomplish this mission, the Church & Center offer a variety of programs and free services including meals, a clothing store, medical services, pregnancy services, parenting classes, addiction classes, men’s, women’s and children’s programs, and church services.
Chris & Darcy Vergiels

Serving in Brazil, Baptist Mid-Missions.
Chris was saved from a Catholic background in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Darcy was born in Brazil to Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries, Bob & Corrine Jones and trusted Christ as her Savior when she was five. We met in grad school at Bob Jones University and sensed God’s call in our lives for Brazil in 1991, joining the BMM in 1993. After our deputation ministry, we arrived in Brazil in January of 1997, where we worked in team ministry in metro Sao Paulo. After 6 years, we moved to the interior of the state of Sao Paulo to start Victory Baptist Church in Osvaldo Cruz. After this church graduated, the Lord moved us an hour away to the city of Presidente Prudente in 2016. Presently, we have a group of believers and meet in a rented facility. We are looking forward to purchasing property and constructing our church building. This is especially important in a Catholic culture because they look at the building as the church. Once our building is constructed, that barrier will be removed and more will come to hear the gospel preached and respond to accept Christ as Savior. We are excited to be part of God's work, building His church here in Presidente Prudente!
Rob & Penny Whitty

Serving in Ghana, Baptist Mid-Missions.
Our story is really our journey of becoming the "living sacrifice" mentioned in Romans 12:1. We are both products of a Christian home, but we both struggled as teens to find our way in the Christian life. We married on October 27, 1984, and God richly blessed us in the succeeding years with five wonderful children. Early in our journey we committed to the local church and to our own personal growth. It was in the arena of the local church that God planted the desire for Him deep in our hearts.
In the Spring of 1995, we committed ourselves to ministry, knowing it would be the mission field but not certain of the location. After several years of deputation and several bumps in the road, we landed in Ghana in the fall of 2003. Looking back we sense that God used every step of the journey to prepare us for this ministry. Even when we didn’t know where we would be, the Lord knew! Right now we are privileged to serve the Lord in the Bono Region. Here we have helped a national-led church expand its ministry and, in 2019, the church opened a Christian school. We cannot believe how God has directed and led through all these events!
Cameron & Kerry Woolford

Church Planting through Church Multiplication, Servant Leaders International.
Our family has been involved in Church Planting and Leadership Training for 25 years. We have participated in 7 church plants working in the United States, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. We are grateful that God has given us the privilege to see His church become a light in communities where confusion and spiritual darkness reign. We look forward to seeing how God will use our family in the years to come to further His Kingdom.
