It is the vision and goal of Northfield Baptist Church to carry out the command of Christ's Great Commission. Therefore, we view missions as an integral ministry of our church and of our individual members.


Northfield Baptist Church has the opportunity to support many who share the Gospel of Jesus Christ both in our country and throughout the world by meeting financial needs, offering encouragement and through prayer. Following is information on people as well as ministries that NBC supports.

Ways to Support NBC Missionaries and Ministries

Below, all of the missionaries and ministries are listed that Northfield Baptist Church supports. Here are some ideas of how you as a church member can support them.

  1. Be aware of their needs, prayer requests and praises provided through the prayer letters.
  2. Pray for our missionaries and ministries regularly.
  3. Send them special offerings through funds collected in the ABF groups. Requests can be sent to the Treasurer through the church office.
  4. Send them notes or cards of encouragement.
  5. Spend time with missionary families when they are in our area on furlough.

David and Hannah Alexander - Missionary Appointees to Peru

  • Pray for David and Hannah as they continue their deputation to get to the place of full support so they are able to get to the field, beginning ministry in music and camp.

Nate and Maam Beckman in Thailand

  • Nate and Maam have been asked to continue the pastorate at Surin Baptist Church. They have committed to two years and have moved closer to this church. Pray for them as they adjust to the move and work through the emotions of stepping away from Pinklao Baptist. Pray for growth and leadership in this church.
  • God continues to bless Pinklao! Pray for Gawk and Poom, a father and his 17-year-old son, who were recently baptized. Pray for them to continue to walk with Jesus and grow in their faith.
  • Praise the Lord for the salvation of Brayden’s dad during their missions trip with us. Brayden had accepted Christ three years ago during Nate’s ministry at a camp in Iowa. Nate and Maam are blessed to have been used by God in the salvation of these men.

Dave and Jeannie Ferguson, Baptist Mid-Missions

  • Pray for Dave as he leads the pursuit of BMM’s Strategic Planning objective, Rock #3, “Expand – pioneer 5 new fields or ministries by 2030. Pray that the Lord will direct, guide and use the committee in these goals.

Steve and Beth Gault, Baptist Mid-Missions

  • Pray for Steve and Beth as they continue to navigate caring for Steve’s parents and Beth’s mom, Janet Bauer. Pray for them to have wisdom in making decisions as they care for their needs.

John and Penny Jackson, Jackson Ministries

  • Pray for John and Penny as they lead a team of 6 to South Africa, leaving tomorrow. Pray as the team is involved in teaching ministry to 25 pastors and their wives in the first week followed by counseling ministry to Bethesda orphanage children and staff. Pray for God’s protection and provision over this team.

Joe and Esther Keim, Mission to Amish People (MAP)

  • Praise the Lord for the encouragement local pastors received as they gathered for one purpose – to discuss what has to happen to tear down walls of division and move the gospel of grace forward. Pray for this group of pastors from Amish, Mennonite and English backgrounds to know how to get the truth of the gospel to their own people.
  • Praise the Lord the positions of bookkeeper and someone to update supporting churches have been filled by our own Ed and Gail Lehto! We are thankful God led Ed & Gail to walk alongside MAP to fill both of these positions.
  • Pray for Ed and Gail in the coming months as they travel with Joe and Esther, learning their new role. They will visit supporting churches as well as new churches updating and sharing all about the MAP ministry.
  • Pray for Ed and Gail as they learn the bookkeeping process for MAP and handling incoming donations.
  • Pray as they work on several ministry goals, which include increasing the SonLight Club from 5,000 to 8,000 students, expanding The Amish Voice from 17,500 to 20,000 copies, and growing the Plowman’s Academy from 40 to 100 students.
  • With volunteer opportunities increasing, pray for an additional 8-10 to be added to their ministry.
  • Pray for wisdom, direction, and provision as they continue to seek God’s guidance for land on which to build.

Ken and Amy Lowe in Portugal

  • Pray for their wisdom and discernment as they work through the transition from leading a church back into a supporting role in Samora Correia.
  • Pray for their counseling situations as they work with several people facing difficult situations.
  • Pray for their broader ministry as they reach out to other parts of Portugal and Europe in the area of biblical counseling.
  • Our NBC team is making preparations here for the trip they will take in June to work with Ken and Amy in an English teaching ministry. Pray for Ken and Amy as they continue to make preparations in Portugal for the team’s arrival.

Bill and Becky Petite in Japan

  • Pray for Bill and Becky as they make plans to hold an ordination service for Hiroki Minamida and confirm him as pastor of the Church in Izumi.
  • Pray for Bill as he has experienced some real weakness, possibly from heart arrhythmia.
  • Continue to pray for the salvation of Yuki, Shuichi, Mr. Okuno, Miss Fujikawa, and others.

Dave, Ruth Ann and Andrea Rogers, ABWE Chile

  • Dave and Ruth Ann are enjoying one-on-one discipleship with many in Chile. Pray for those struggling to be faithful, dealing with addiction, temptation, anger, and sin. Pray for those bearing the scars of abuse. Pray for the discipleship to lead to a hunger for God’s Word and growth in the lives of each of these people.
  • Praise the Lord for reconciliation that took place after an interpersonal schism in the church. Following many meetings, forgiveness was offered and healing has begun!
  • Praise the Lord for the many training opportunities through GROW. With sales down on the publication side, pray for the GROW leadership to find creative ways to balance the budget and multiply the resources.
  • Pray for Dave and Ruth Ann as they minister to three pastors and their wives who are leading a church plant. Pray for strength, encouragement, and financial support for each of these couples.

Josh, Rachel, Nate, Anna Stewart in Taiwan

  • Praise the Lord for the decisions made at camp this year including a decision to trust Christ as Savior and a surrender to ministry. Many were confronted with the Gospel and challenged to live for Christ.
  • Pray for God’s continuing work in the lives of Mr. Zheng and another person Josh meets with for a new believer Bible study.
  • As sin has been revealed in the lives of many, pray their sorrow will be long-term and bring change. Pray for those who still have not chosen to deal with obvious sin. 
  • Pray for two young men who have been called to ministry that they will be faithful to God’s call. Pray also for more to be called and for God’s wisdom and working in lives.
  • Praise the Lord for the improvement in Nate’s health and for God’s work in his life as he was able to continue preparations of a sermon and then preach it in Chinese.
  • Praise the Lord Josh’s arm continues to improve in mobility and strength.

Michael and Sherri Vanek, Faith Baptist Community Church and Center

  • The Vanek family has experienced a season of joy with Emily’s graduation from Cedarville University and her marriage this past Saturday to Samuel Gravley! They are praising the Lord for these wonderful blessings.
  • Pray for the Vanek family as Michael’s mom went home to be with her Savior in the middle of May. Pray for God’s comfort and strength as the family experiences such a roller coaster of emotions.
  • With Ben’s graduation, pray for him as he enters Faith Baptist Bible College in the fall to begin Faith’s new trades program as well as possibly pursuing a degree in missions or organizational leadership.

Chris & Darcy Vergiels, Brazil with BMM

  • Praise the Lord with dry and cool winter weather, the auditorium construction advances, and the crew is ahead of schedule on the project! As they pray daily for the construction crew, pray that each might come to know Christ during this project.
  • With inflation increasing the cost of construction materials, the cost of the auditorium project is above what was saved. An anonymous donor has offered to donate up to $28,000 in matching funds to help complete the construction. Pray for the Lord to supply this need before the October 31 deadline.
  • Praise the Lord three men gave their hearts to Christ at their Father/Son Barbeque on August 8. Pray for the follow up that will take place with these men to lead to their growth in the Lord.

Rob and Penny Whitty in Ghana Africa

  • Pray for the 9th grade students in their school this week who are taking placement exams. These exams will determine where they will proceed to in high school, and this is the first class from Emmanuel Baptist to take these exams. Pray for the students to have good recall with what they have studied. Pray for God’s grace in their lives as they take these exams.
  • Pray for Rob and Penny as they continue to care for the needs of Rob’s parents.
  • College-age young adults in their churches who need to be organized and ministered to by the local church.
  • Wisdom for trying to buy the additional piece of property to serve as a phys ed place and sports field for EBCS. The negotiations have stalled while they wait for the owners to decide what they will do.
  • People to respond to the Gospel.
  • Wisdom to see another church planted in the area around them with the aid of a Ghanaian in helping to plant the church.
  • For God's direction with future administrators for the school.
  • Future expansion of the school.

Cameron and Kerry Woolford, Servant Leaders International

  • Praise the Lord for the many opportunities Cam had to mentor, mobilize and multiply servant leaders as he spent time in Germany encouraging the European team, in Spain equipping leaders in Madrid, and in El Salvador investing in local church leadership.
  • The Woolford family is praising the Lord for the celebration of Madison’s marriage to Connor Lawrence. Pray for this young couple as they begin their life together.
  • Pray for Cam and Kerry to keep the goal before them of establishing lasting partnerships with local churches that will equip men and women to disciple others, strengthen their congregations, and multiply the gospel for generations to come.

  • David & Hannah Alexander

    Missionaries Appointees to Peru, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    David and Hannah Alexander joined BMM in 2024 to serve in Peru. Upon reaching full support, they will serve in camp and music ministry.

  • Nate & Maam Beckman

    Serving in Thailand, Serving Missionaries in Asia & The Pacific, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    Nate grew up in the Central African Republic as the son of BMM missionaries Larry and Paula Beckman. Nate later served short-term in Thailand, where he met his wife, Maam. They joined BMM in 2001 and serve as church planters in Bangkok, Thailand.

  • Dave & Jeannie Ferguson

    First Vice President and Administrator for Missionary Services, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    Dave and his wife, Jeannie, served as BMM missionaries with Campus Bible Fellowship from 1987 until 2002, before Dave joined our home office team as Assistant to the President/Director of Special Projects. He took his current position in 2017.

    As Administrator for Missionary Services, Dave is responsible for administrative oversight and coordination of the Missionary Services working group, which is comprised of the following services: Missionary Finance, Field Administration, Special Projects, and Crisis Management.

  • Steve & Beth Gault

    Field Administrator for Africa and Europe, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    Steve grew up in Central African Republic as a BMM MK. In 1991, he and his wife, Beth, joined BMM and served as church planters in his homeland. Civil wars caused the Gaults to relocate to Côte d’Ivoire and then to Cameroon. In his last 11 years in Africa, Steve also served as BMM’s Africa coordinator before joining the home office team in 2015.

    Steve serves in a pastoral and consulting role for the missionaries serving in his fields. Steve and Beth come alongside missionaries to help them thrive in life and ministry.

  • John & Penny Jackson

    A lifetime of vibrant disciple-making ministry! John and Penny Jackson have been Creating Confident Disciple-Makers for decades!

    They've discipled people in jails, hospitals, in remote African villages, around the campfire, on fishing trips, in their neighborhoods, around the dinner table (where there is always room for one more chair), or at the gym or grocery store.

    In the USA and around the world, they've served as church-planting missionaries and as mentors and counselors to other missionaries, as short-term missions hosts, trip leaders and trainers; as camp counselors, as teachers, as disciple-making parents, and, now, as disciple-making grandparents.

  • Joe & Esther Keim

    Mission to Amish People.

    Joe and Esther Keim were both born and raised in the Old Order Amish Community. They had been taught that only by keeping the Amish ordinance would they be able to get to heaven. Through the testimony and prayers of his friend, Paul, Joe realized that it was only through accepting Jesus as his Savior that he would get to heaven. Both he and Esther came to know the Lord, were married and soon became outcasts of the Amish for their new beliefs. Though they became involved in church and began to serve, they were burdened for the Amish and the desire for each to hear the clear message of salvation. The result of this call is Mission to Amish People. The three-fold purpose is to 1) Evangelize and disciple Amish and former Amish people; 2) Assist older teenagers and young adults who have already left the Amish culture by providing basic life skills; and 3) Expand MAP all over North America.

  • Ken & Amy Lowe

    Serving with Faith Global Missions in Portugal.

    Ken and Amy have extensive experience working in Portugal. The Lowes worked in Portugal for over 15 years before returning to the States for the last 10 years. They are now desiring to return to Portugal to focus upon Biblical Counseling training and leadership development with local Portuguese churches. This is a key time of resourcing leaders in Portugal as churches strive to grow and reproduce. Ken has been ACBC certified since 2007 and his D.Min focused on leadership development through the local church. 

  • Bill & Becky Petite

    Serving in Japan, Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.

    Bill and Becky Petite are serving in Southern Japan and are involved with church planting, English teaching, the Living Hope Gospel Choir and Bill is Field Council Treasurer. They also teach English and Bible Classes, interpret for the deaf.

  • Dave & Ruth Ann Rogers

    Serving in Chile, Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.

    Dave and Ruth Ann Rogers serve in Chile. Dave focuses on partnering with Chilean believers to plant churches (presently New Life Baptist) and equip leaders through the Seminary, overseeing the publications ministry, and field team leadership. Ruth Ann emphasizes the discipleship of women and teaching.

  • Josh & Rachel Stewart

    Serving in Taiwan, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    The Stewarts joined BMM in 2010 to serve in Asia. Their current ministry is in Taiwan.

  • Michael & Sherri Vanek

    Faith Baptist Church and Community Center, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    Michael and Sherri Vanek serve at the Faith Baptist Church and Community Center in inner-city Cleveland, Ohio. The church and center exist to preach the gospel, teach the Scriptures, and helping people grow into productive servants of Jesus Christ as He builds His church in inner-city Cleveland. To accomplish this mission, the Church & Center offer a variety of programs and free services including meals, a clothing store, medical services, pregnancy services, parenting classes, addiction classes, men’s, women’s and children’s programs, and church services.

  • Chris & Darcy Vergiels

    Serving in Brazil, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    Chris was saved from a Catholic background in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Darcy was born in Brazil to Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries, Bob & Corrine Jones and trusted Christ as her Savior when she was five. We met in grad school at Bob Jones University and sensed God’s call in our lives for Brazil in 1991, joining the BMM in 1993. After our deputation ministry, we arrived in Brazil in January of 1997, where we worked in team ministry in metro Sao Paulo. After 6 years, we moved to the interior of the state of Sao Paulo to start Victory Baptist Church in Osvaldo Cruz. After this church graduated, the Lord moved us an hour away to the city of Presidente Prudente in 2016. Presently, we have a group of believers and meet in a rented facility. We are looking forward to purchasing property and constructing our church building. This is especially important in a Catholic culture because they look at the building as the church. Once our building is constructed, that barrier will be removed and more will come to hear the gospel preached and respond to accept Christ as Savior. We are excited to be part of God's work, building His church here in Presidente Prudente!

  • Rob & Penny Whitty

    Serving in Ghana, Baptist Mid-Missions.

    Our story is really our journey of becoming the "living sacrifice" mentioned in Romans 12:1. We are both products of a Christian home, but we both struggled as teens to find our way in the Christian life. We married on October 27, 1984, and God richly blessed us in the succeeding years with five wonderful children. Early in our journey we committed to the local church and to our own personal growth. It was in the arena of the local church that God planted the desire for Him deep in our hearts.

    In the Spring of 1995, we committed ourselves to ministry, knowing it would be the mission field but not certain of the location. After several years of deputation and several bumps in the road, we landed in Ghana in the fall of 2003. Looking back we sense that God used every step of the journey to prepare us for this ministry. Even when we didn’t know where we would be, the Lord knew! Right now we are privileged to serve the Lord in the Bono Region. Here we have helped a national-led church expand its ministry and, in 2019, the church opened a Christian school. We cannot believe how God has directed and led through all these events!

    Church Planting through Church Multiplication, Servant Leaders International.

    Our family has been involved in Church Planting and Leadership Training for 25 years. We have participated in 7 church plants working in the United States, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. We are grateful that God has given us the privilege to see His church become a light in communities where confusion and spiritual darkness reign. We look forward to seeing how God will use our family in the years to come to further His Kingdom.
